George Bush/Barker Reservoir Trail
A new 4-mile asphalt trail has been built along Barker Dam from
Briar Forest to the Precinct 3 Sport Park near Barker Cypress Road
. The Energy Corridor District partnered with the US Army Corps
of Engineers, Harris County Precinct 3 and area interests to link
Bush Park's trail to surrounding neighborhoods and Terry Hershey
Park and Hike and Bike Trails. Terry
Hershey Park features a 9-mile hike and bike trail,
playgrounds, restrooms, and picnic areas connecting Energy Corridor
businesses to desirable Memorial neighborhoods along Buffalo Bayou
from east of Beltway to State Highway 6. With the 4-mile Bush Park
Trail, over 20 miles of greenways and trails will be connected.
New access to the Terry Hershey trail system is proposed along Eldridge
Parkway at Energy Corridor Trailhead Park on Buffalo Bayou.
Much of the office space in the Energy Corridor is situated in park-like settings. As an example, the WestLake office campus between IH 10 and Memorial Drive offers class A office space within walking distance of adjoining neighborhoods, parks and trails. Along Eldridge Parkway, between apartments and office centers, Ray Miller Park features tot and intermediate play areas, a boardwalk, butterfly and wildflower gardens, walking trails, picnic tables, gazebo, restrooms and convenient parking.
The Energy Corridor Board of Directors and staff work in coordination with civic, government and private organizations and individuals are working to identify and develop additional park and greenspace areas in and near the District.
