The best thing about Bear Creek is that it opened-and as a result ushered in a new era of golf in Houston. Bear Creek was the first daily fee course in the area that was not run by a municipality. Since the original course opened 25 years ago, two more courses have been added.

The best of the courses at Bear Creek is the Master's Course, which has long been regarded as one of the finest public facilities in the country. In fact, "Golf Digest" rated it as one of the top 50 courses in the country.

The course is mostly straight and long with narrow fairways. Highlights include No. 6, a 557-yard par 5, and the par 4 ninth: there are two water hazards, and the green is guarded by multiple sand traps.
