Open house explores potential strategies to improve transportation
Energy Corridor employees, business owners, community members and local officials are invited to attend an open house and meeting for the West Houston Subregional Planning Initiative, known as the West Houston Mobility Plan, 6 -7:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, at the Tracy Gee Community Center, 3599 Westcenter Drive.
The multi-modal Subregional Planning study by the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) seeks to identify transportation strategies that can improve West Houston mobility. One of its goals is to improve the ways people get to, from and around The Energy Corridor – looking at everything from local streets and tollways, to transit, pedestrian and bicycling networks.
Comments and ideas are welcome during the open house. H-GAC will present findings and answer questions on existing conditions, future population and employment growth scenarios, and potential infrastructure and policy strategies in the sprawling study area that encompasses West Houston.
Stakeholders participating in the Greater West Houston Subregional Planning Initiative include:
- The Energy Corridor District
- City of Houston
- Gulf Coast Rail District
- Harris County and Harris County Toll Road Authority
- Houston-Galveston Area Council
- Memorial City Management District
