On a mission to keep creative juices flowing during school vacation, three Energy Corridor companies have created the Mindful Movement Summer Camp to bring youths a holistic and active experience using art, fitness and yoga.
The Mindful Movement Summer Camp seeks to engage youths in painting, jumping, dance, relaxation and concentration techniques, while building self-esteem and confidence in a fun setting, according to organizers the Art Cellar of Houston, Dance+Jump Fitness Studio and Namaste Yoga.
The program is designed to eliminate boredom and invigorate creative thinking. With morning and afternoon sessions, each day offers a different experience: yoga and art on Mondays; jumping and art on Tuesdays; yoga and Zumba on Wednesdays; and art, yoga and dance on Thursdays.
The camp gives youths a chance to experience the first jumping fitness program developed in Texas. Dance+Jump Fitness Studio uses a dynamic fitness training system, conducted on specially developed jumping trampolines. Zumba sessions bring dance fitness classes built around having fun, where summer camp participants will learn coordination and basic dance choreographies from a diverse range of music. Teenagers to kids age seven are invited.
Namaste Yoga seeks to enhance child flexibility, balance and coordination, breathing awareness and relaxation skills through its Young Yogis program centered on meditation, creative body postures and dynamic body sequences, backed by music and themed-based stories. Ages six+ are invited.
Art Cellar of Houston will feature step-by-step painting instruction to help children create their own custom, acrylic masterpiece on a 16x20 stretched canvas. Kids will enjoy the interactive social environment the Art Cellar is known for, while hit music fills the background.
Registration is now open for the Mindful Movement Summer Camp, with savings offered before May 15. Two sessions are set: Session 1 is May 30-June 9; Session 2 is June 20-June 30. Visit here for more information.
