The Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) has designated August as “Commute Solutions” month. With the goal to provide a “one-stop” alternative transportation resource in the Houston-Galveston area for both commuters and businesses, H-GAC is encouraging more employers to participate in the Commute Solutions Programs.
This year, H-GAC urged Management Districts, including the Energy Corridor District, to sign a pledge challenging them to encourage employers to adopt an air quality initiative. Companies are eligible to become Clean Air Champions by offering employees one of the following:
- A monetary transit/vanpool benefit providing a tax incentive for both employers and employees
- A telework program
- An alternative work schedule program
- A comparable benefit that has the effect of reducing traffic congestion
The promotion will extend through the end of August and will conclude with H-GAC’s Annual Clean Air Action Leadership Awards Luncheon held at the Hilton Americas Houston on August 30. All participating companies will receive recognition in a full page supplemental ad in the Houston Business Journal. For more information regarding registration and the luncheon click here.
The Energy Corridor District is a proud supporter of this initiative as our General Manager, Clark Martinson, serves on and chairs the 2011 H-GAC’s Transportation Air Quality Subcommittee. To find out more information about Commute Solutions, visit www.commutesolutionshouston.org.
