Grand Re-Opening Party to Celebrate Revival of Harvey-Swamped Plazas at the Parkway on Mar. 3

Severely flooded home to Beans Café, Houston Barbecue Company, Josephine's Day Spa and more comes back to life

The Harvey induced floodwaters swamped a popular neighborhood center, Plazas at the Parkway, leaving its retail and dining establishments in shambles.

Now, six months after the deluge, Plazas at the Parkway is ready to celebrate its resurrection with a grand re-opening party, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at 1117 Eldridge Parkway, on the corner of Enclave Boulevard.

The free celebration will feature a re-opening ceremony, prizes, giveaways, fun activities and more. Radio station KRBE (104.1 FM) will broadcast remotely from the event, providing prizes and an onsite DJ for lively music.

Vista Management, which leases and manages Plazas at the Parkway, is hosting the event.

The 44,000 square-foot neighborhood specialty center took it on the chin after Harvey, leaving behind flood-damaged facilities and equipment. Its tenants worked hard to rebuild, facing costly and unexpected expenses - all magnified since they were unable to sell their services.

But the owners, managers and staff of Beans Café, Josephine's Day Spa, Houston BBQ, Cigar Towne, the UPS Store and more have proved to be a resilient lot. Even then, places like Beans Café and Houston Barbecue Company had to employ makeshift solutions like portable tables and other shortcuts to get back in business as soon as possible.

"It's exciting and encouraging to see our local businesses coming back from so many challenges," says Rachael Weaver, Community Relations Manager for the Energy Corridor District. "We encourage the Energy Corridor community to come out to the grand re-opening party for Plazas at the Parkway and celebrate the resiliency and revival of our business community."
