Representatives of the Energy Corridor District joined with the Houston-Galveston Area Council staff in recognizing commuters at the METRO Addicks Park & Ride lot on August 15, 2012. The early morning event featured light refreshments and giveaways for the transit patrons and was one of a series of events sponsored by H-GAC in August as part of their annual Commute Solutions Month celebration.
The event acknowledged the contributions made to the community by transit commuters who help reduce congestion and improve air quality. In addition, according to data released by the American Automobile Association, transit commuters experience auto cost savings of thousands of dollars a year.
The METRO Addicks Park & Ride provides express transit services to Downtown and the Texas Medical Center and local service on the 75 Eldridge Crosstown to Park Row, Grisby, Westlake Park, Memorial Drive and Eldridge Parkway as far south as the Mission Bend Park & Ride.
