Cleaning up after Hurricane Ike
Before Ike’s Category 2 winds hit Texas, the Tully Stadium parking lot in the Energy Corridor was busy staging the National Guard and fueling ambulances, school buses and tour buses. A very long weekend followed Hurricane Ike’s path of destruction on the Gulf Coast and the Houston region. The region experienced flooding, fallen trees, loss of power, cable and internet, lines at gas stations and school closures. Neighbors helped neighbors remove fallen trees, clean yards and streets, share ice and distribute food. Some homes were spared while others next door were destroyed. After Ike, Energy Corridor hotels became new homes for recovery crews. Many Energy Corridor companies have been helping their employees find supplies and get back to normal. Eldridge Parkway and Briar Forest Drive still have damaged traffic signals and all broken traffic signals are being treated as a 4 way stop. Please report all down power lines to 713-207-2222. And if you or anyone you know requires hurricane assistance contact FEMA at 1-800-FEMA (3362). Thanks for volunteering and your patience.
