Avocado, Inc began as a modest Japanese fast food restaurant in the small city of Wylie, Texas. Before opening that first location in late 2005, founder Alexander C Lim owned a local pizza parlor and was the C.F.O. of an accounting firm. Through frequent dining experiences around town, Alexander was struck by the lack of fast, quality Japanese cuisine.
Convinced he could create a restaurant that was authentic, unique and profitable, Alexander quit his job and the Avocado concept was born. Thanks to customer referrals, savvy marketing and strict quality control, the fledgling start-up rapidly grew to become the premier Japanese restaurant company in the state of Texas, grossing more than $1M in just its’ second year.
With this wave of success, Alexander wanted to expand his business beyond the local market and chose licensing as the next step. In close partnership with licensees, he instills his founding principles and practices in the growing network of Avocado restaurants — a concept he envisions becoming the McDonalds of Japanese fast food.
